A new type of miso soup is being developed as space food by the National Space Development Agency of Japan and Riken Vitamin. In space, floating drops of miso soup can damage computer systems. However, when Japanese astronaut Koichi Wakata tried to eat instant miso soup through a straw, the straw became clogged with wakame seaweed.（+＿+） This has required ingredients which can go through straws smoothly to be developed. Most of the conventional space foods are for American astronauts.
